description

It's two against many. Dash around the battlefield, your fighting ground is no longer limited to a static screen but in a place in which enemies swarm around you. Make use of your partner's power to mow them all down. Best partners from the first game to the latest come together to weave out a new story.

Combo the swarming masses by forming a long string of attacks with your partner, the stronger the bond between the partners, the more powerful the attacks. Yes, those people have worked together to save the world in their own game, but can they do it again?

Limited edition.
I say pass on this game. It's fun for a while but it's not worth the money. If you MUST have this game do your self a favor and pass on the limited edition.

Fast Paced and Perfect to go!
This game is exactly what it should be. While on one hand its not the kind of thing that you would want to sit down and play from dawn till dusk on the weekend, its is absolutely perfect for on the go. The story mode has 30 fully voiced plot lines, each featuring a so called 'best pair' from 15 tales games, right up to Xillia. 15 of them are serious scenarios, while the others are comedic. By playing through these, you unlock characters for use in the other modes. There are 3 boss characters, and two main tracks. Some of the routes only touch one of the bosses and one of the tracks, but others hit all of the bosses and both tracks. Its pretty hard to see what going to end up as the final goal each route because its pretty erratic.
What I mean about perfect for 'on the go' is that because each individual story is so short, you could probably finish one just in down time during your day. I play a little bit between each of my classes and have that kind of pace down.
The goal in fighting in this game is not to beat as many enemies as fast as you can. If you watch trailers you might wonder why they don't just take out the enemies that just keep calling new guys to fight. The answer is that your goal is to rack up the highest combo you can possibly get, and by calling new enemies you have new targets to hit. In this way, sometimes having too strong a weapon is actually detrimental!
This game's dialogue, as I mentioned, is all voiced. However, a decent amount of plot takes place during battles in story mode. If you're not super strong in Japanese and plan to buy this game, keep that in mind. Everything that is said during fights is subtitled at the top right of the screen, but in the middle of a fight you don't really have the freedom to stare at it if you're not very quick with reading, and the sfx can drown out the voice overs.
This special edition comes with some pretty cool stuff. The cells in the film strip are different for everyone. The three drama CDs are three of the sections in the book. The book cover probably wont fit any North American or European books, but it sure does fit nicely on the book included. And the 15 month desk calendar looks sharp. Though I think they should have made it 18 month and threw in a calendar page for the each of the 3 boss characters too. The box it comes in is super classy. It has this white marble thing going on with gold for all the writing and detail. Its very sharp. The picture here is of the concept art.
Though I am a fan of the tales series, I've only played about 3/4s of the games in the series. This game doesn't really demand that you know the characters.
In conclusion, the fast, action filled pace of this game makes it perfect for on the go. You can pick what kind of mood you want to play, then just get at 'er. No long build up, you just jump right in and go.
